We’re getting ready for the biggest game of the year and it just happens to be in our city. Whether you’re rooting for Seattle or Denver, something we can all agree on is a good Super Bowl party. Here are some fun ways to get in the spirit.

Queen to a King

by gracekelle

On a day when we’re remembering the great Martin Luther King, let’s also honor his wife. Because beside every great man is a great woman who gives him the confidence needed to go after his dreams.

Thanks Mrs. King. You were truly a Queen.

The True Adventures of a Real-Life Bridesmaid

by LizT.

I’m back in the wedding swing of things. The funny thing about bridesmaiding… it just keeps coming around. Just when I think all my friends are married… here comes another 3. Actually 5. This year (so far) I have 5 wedding invitations to respond to. I’m maid of honor in 1 of them (July), Kelle and I are assisting the planning in another (May) and one is the wedding of my oldest friend and is a must attend event (November). The other 2 are very important as well but they are a bit far away for me and that may prevent my attendance, but as always I will try my darndest to get there.

So I am bringing back my ‘True Adventure” to properly cover all the shennanigans that will inevitably ensue in the coming year. And in case anyone is counting I will officially have been in and/or apart of 12 weddings in total in my adult life. (Though I think I’m forgetting some cause I’d previously counted 13… but then again I’m 31 now and they say the memory goes first.)

Last night I was telling someone about my many wedding travails and lamenting that I had so many friends that were getting married and she told me she’d never been in a wedding. Never a bridesmaid, never a maid of honor. And she said, “You must have a lot of close friends. How lucky for you to be in so many weddings and have that many good friends.” And she’s right. It’s such an honor to be asked to be a part of such an important day in a friend’s life. I sometimes forget because I’ve been a part of so many and weddings have been my life for such a long time. I get jaded and I forget that it’s new for them!

With this new found outlook on the year to come I look forward to standing up with my friends or sitting in the pew watching or singing or sewing or doing whatever it is that the bride may need from me. It’s an honor and they are all worth remembering that for!!!

Happy 2014… another year of spectacular wedding fun!
